Hello Guys, I have made a software as hobby project for serial port communication. This is just an attempt to give back something to the internet community particularly targeting hobbyists/enthusiasts in the field of Embedded Systems. This software is named as Serial Terminal currently in version 1.2. It is a software which is useful for both Embedded Engineers and Hobbyists while working with microcontrollers and PC. It can be used for monitoring messages/data via serial port and for calibrations. It is very useful in debugging. It has quite a lot features like you can export the data monitored from the serial port. Also data can be sent continuously at fixed (user selectable) intervals. Currently I am working for version 1.3 which would be released by the end of this year 2015. Kindly download the software from the below link and do report the bugs as well as your valuable comments. http://serialterminalutility.sourceforge.net Screenshots Hope you guys will find...
Hello Guys, Today I thought of sharing one of my level shifter circuits. This is a simple circuit which can be made out of very few components. The components required are 1 NPN transistor (in my case I have used BC 547) and 2 resistors. That's it :) Description (5V to 3.3V converter) The circuit has a very simple working principle. Lets take the following cases to understand how the circuit works. 1) When Input = 0V, the emitter voltage is held at a low potential as compared to the base voltage (forward biased). This pushes the transistor into saturation. Due to this there are flow of charges (current) from collector to emitter which results in a voltage drop across the collector resistor. So at the output we get approximately 0V. 2) When Input = 5V, the emitter voltage is at a high potential as compared to the base voltage (reverse biased). This puts the transistor to cut off completely. Due to this there is no flow of charges (current) from collec...
Hello Guys, I am glad to inform you all that, as promised, here is the release of new version of Serial Terminal software. This new version includes: 1) Option for sending multiple user commands (maximum up to 10 commands) 2) Option to send the commands once or repeatedly 3) Configurable timeouts for each command with "same" and "unique" timeouts (100 ms to 30000 ms) 4) Displaying of received data in decimal as well as binary 5) "Notepad" launching option from toolbar 6) End User License Agreement (EULA) 7) An option to contact the author dir...
